Meet a Westsider:
Cecilia Greenhalgh

Profession/Occupation... I'm retired from retail and have been a “Jill of all trades.” I also would help my dad, Lynn Eastman who owned Eastman Junque in the 2600 block of West Colorado Avenue, when he had an event at the City Auditorium. I've always done volunteer work and still will.
What I like most about the Westside is... I love the Westside Pioneer, the Garden of the Gods and the mountains being so close. (They say “you can never go back home,” but God brought me back.)
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have cleaner sidewalks in Old Colorado City, no dogs at people functions and a larger computer room at Old Colorado City Library.
A good movie I've seen recently is... “War Horse” - a war drama film adapted from a children's novel about WWI and horses.
I'd like to discover... how to stop crime because it absolutely devastates people.
If I could meet someone famous, I'd like to meet... Bob Dylan. I'd be thrilled.
The next time I travel, I'm going to... I just got back from Idaho, visiting my military kids, and I'll visit wherever they get deployed next.
My favorite childhood memory is... growing up in Wisconsin and working in tobacco fields, ice skating, climbing apple trees in our orchard and family reunions. Here in Colorado: hiking in the Garden of the Gods and on the Barr Trail.
My favorite winter pastime is... I love pickin' on my banjo, going to Colorado College concerts and “Tunes on Tuesdays” at the Senior Center. I also like to spend a little time gaming in Cripple Creek, baking goodies and political teapartying.
Something good I've read is... “The King of Cripple Creek,” by Marshall Sprague. I love the history of Cripple Creek and the story of Stratton and how he gave his money away. We are still reaping the rewards of his philanthropy.
My pet peeve is... waiting for people who are late.
If I won the lottery, I would… take my one sister who has never been anywhere on a world cruise.
"Meet a Westsider" is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
