Information night Jan. 19 for West Middle School's Gifted Magnet program

An information meeting for District 11's Gifted Magnet program for grades 6-8 will be offered at West Middle School, 1920 W. Pikes Peak Ave., Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Parents/guardians of future or present middle-schoolers in the Pikes Peak region are welcome to attend. Teachers in the program will host the event.
The program is predominantly open to students who have been identified as “gifted and talented” through a state testing process, according to a program spokesperson.
“The Gifted Magnet Program curriculum is interdisciplinary and built upon concepts of discovery, change and conflict,” an event flyer states. “The curriculum is relevant and rigorous, exceeds state content standards and encourages critical and complex thinking skills.”
A similar session at Sabin, D-11's other Gifted Magnet middle school, will be Jan. 14.
Applications are available at either school or online at d11.org.
